6Mm electric cooker cable

Changing my integral double oven , I find new cooker terminals do not have clamps under screw . I am refurbishing my kitchen and need to reposition the cooker to the other side of the room. Is extending the existing 6mm cable using a joint box. Will 6mm cable be sufficient for a 7. Any electricians on board?
